After early struggles, Hockinson routes Ridgefield 42-15

In week four of the prep football season, Battle Ground versus Prairie wasn’t the only North County clash that occurred.

Hockinson and Ridgefield also faced off in Hockinson, but the result, a 42-15 Hawks victory, wasn’t as close.

Ridgefield held their own early on. In the first quarter, the Hawks scored first on a bomb from Canon Racanelli to little brother Sawyer Racanelli, but Ridgefield’s defense later responded with multiple sacks and an interception. Before the end of the first quarter, Ridgefield was also able to score on a 59-yard run from Jeremy Martin to tie the game at 7-7.

In the second quarter, Hockinson’s Canon Racanelli took over.

After snagging an interception of his own, Racanelli lead the Hawks to the goal line and snuck into the endzone on a 1-yard quarterback keeper. Later in the quarter, he again connected with Sawyer in the endzone to make it 21-7. Canon went on to throw two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

By the fourth quarter, Hockinson was up 35-7. They eventually won 42-15 to improve to 4-0. Outside of their lethal air attack, Hawks running back Colton Wheeler put up 104 yards on the ground on 10 carries. On the other side, Ridgefield’s Martin was the most productive weapon. He finished 1 yard shy of a triple digit rushing night with 99 yards.
