Local Portland area television network KGW announced last week a multi-year partnership with the Seattle Kraken National Hockey League (NHL)  team to broadcast more than 70 games during the season.

Starting in the fall of 2024, fans can watch all non-nationally televised Kraken games during the preseason, regular season and postseason for free on the KGW network channel 8, a press release by KGW stated.

“As broadcasters, we’re proud to serve our community by providing a free viewing experience to nearly every Kraken game,” KGW President and general manager Steve Carter said in the release. “We’re equally proud to partner with the Kraken for all viewers in Oregon and southwest Washington, giving hockey fans unparalleled access to the games and the Seattle Kraken franchise.”

The games will also be broadcast by other TEGNA stations: KING 5 in Seattle and KREM in Spokane. The Kraken are also partnering with Prime Video to stream the games for Prime members in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, the release stated.
