Girls basketball: La Center, Prairie charge forward

With the momentum of an undefeated league record, it only took La Center (10-0, 20-1 overall) one game to advance to the 1A District Girls Basketball Tournament final. 

The Wildcats beat Montesano 61-39 last week and will now play Elma, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Rochester High School. 

2A

Both Woodland (6-6, 12-9 overall) and Hockinson (9-4, 13-8 overall) lost in the first round of 2A District Girls Basketball Tournament: Hockinson, 59-51 to Black Hills; Woodland, 88-35 to W.F. West. In the consolation bracket, needing to win out to advance to regionals, Woodland played Centralia and Hockinson played Washougal on Monday evenings. Scores were not available by print deadline. 



3A 

Over their first two games of the 3A District Girls Basketball Tournament, Prairie (9-1, 18-4 overall) scored a combined 136 points. Their opponents combined for 37.  

First they dispatched of Bonney Lake 66-19, then Timberline, 70-18. 

The Falcons next play Lincoln, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Foss High School in Tacoma, for a spot in the district finals, which would also secure a spot in regionals.
