Area girls sports postseasons underway

The 3A Prairie Falcons girls soccer team saw their season come to an end after two straight losses in the district tournament. The Falcons lost their first game to Peninsula High School on Oct. 28, 1-0. The Falcons lost their second game to Central Kitsap High School on Nov. 1, 2-0.

The Ridgefield Spudders earned their way to District 4 2A girls soccer tournament championship with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen High School on Oct. 31, 3-0 win over Hockinson High School on Nov. 2, and a 3-0 win over R.A. Long High School for the district championship on Nov. 4. Ridgefield will host Sequim High School in a loser-out game on either Tuesday, Nov. 7 or Wednesday, Nov. 8, with the time, location and day unavailable at time of print.

The Hockinson Hawks earned their way to a state playoff berth after shocking Tumwater High School on Oct. 31, losing to the Ridgefield Spudders on Nov. 2 and clinching a playoff berth over the Woodland Beavers on Nov. 4, 1-0. Hockinson will play at North Kitsap High School in a loser-out game at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8.

The Woodland Beavers saw their season end after a 1-0 win over Centralia High School on Oct. 28, 7-0 loss to Columbia River High School on Oct. 31, 2-1 upset win over W.F. West High School on Nov. 2, and a 1-0 loss to the Hockinson Hawks on Nov. 4.



The La Center Wildcats earned their way to a District 4 1A girls soccer tournament championship after a 2-1 win over Elma High School on Nov. 2 and a 3-0 win over Montesano High School on Nov. 4. La Center will host Meridian High School in a win or go home game either Tuesday, Nov. 7 or Wednesday, Nov. 8, time, location and day was unavailable at time of print.

Girls volleyball

The Prairie Falcons will play Bonney Lake High School in the first round of the District 3 and 4 3A girls volleyball tournament in Capital High School’s main gym at noon on Friday, Nov. 10 in Olympia.

The Ridgefield Spudders earned a state tournament berth after they placed second in districts. On Nov. 2, the Spudders won 3-0 against Aberdeen High School. On Nov. 4, the Spudders won 3-1 against Tumwater High School and then lost 3-1 against Columbia River High School in the tournament championship. Ridgefield will play their first state tournament matchup at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 against Ephrata High School on court 4 at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The La Center Wildcats earned a state tournament berth after becoming District 4 1A tournament champions. The Wildcats defeated Elma High School, 3-0, on Nov. 1. Also on Nov. 1, the Wildcats won 3-1 against Seton Catholic High School and won 3-0 over King’s Way High School on Nov. 4 for the tournament championship. La Center will play their first state tournament matchup against Annie Wright High School at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
