The Prairie Falcons baseball team kept it close on three games with the No. 2-ranked 3A team in the state but failed to grab a win in the series.

Each of the three games in the 3A Greater St. Helens League matchup against Kelso High School stayed close. Game one on Monday, April 15, resulted in a 3-2 loss, game two on Tuesday, April 16, ended in a 2-1 loss, and in game three, on Thursday, April 18, the Falcons gained a 6-3 lead but lost 11-8.

“We gave ourselves a chance to play every game. We just left guys on. We gave them freebies, and they’re a great team, last undefeated team in the state,” Falcons Head Coach Tanner Bogart said. “So we can’t take anything away that they did. Tyler’s a great coach, and they were ready to play. New day tomorrow. Nothing we can do about it.”

The Falcons next have their final league series with Heritage High School. Games one and two were slated for Monday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 23, but results were unavailable at press time. Game three of the series is slated for 4 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Heritage High School.
