David Villagran, a 33-year-old, was shot and killed by a Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy last week.

According to a news release from the department, around 4:40 a.m., Nov. 28, the Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies headed to the Orchards area in response to a report of a stolen vehicle.

The deputies found the stolen car in the area of NE 109th Ave. and NE 71st St. with one suspect inside.

The suspect then rammed a deputy’s patrol car with the stolen car and an “officer-involved shooting ensued,” according to the department.

Villagran was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiners Office said a “gunshot wound to the head” was the cause of death.

The deputy sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital the same day; per protocol, he was placed on critical incident leave.

The Clark County Regional Major Crimes Unit and the Vancouver Regional Major Crimes Team are investigating the incident.
