Animals from around the world join Washington State Fair

Fair guests are invited to see something out of the ordinary at the Washington State Fair, held Sept. 5-21. Animals from all corners of the world will gather at the Animals of the World exhibit the first five days of the fair, Sept. 5-9.

The Animals of the World exhibit features unique breeds of animals. This year, parrots and cockatiels are joining the exotic lineup.

The exhibit will feature many favorites such as cream draft horses, kune kune pigs and a watusi. The full list of animals includes the ones just mentioned, as well as Jacob sheep, yaks, parrots/cockatiels, Nigerian dwarf goats, ornamental birds and game birds, Dexter cattle, mini zebu, camels, kangaroo, Boer goats, llamas, alpacas, Katahdin sheep, fainting goats, Navajo Charro, Black Welch mountain sheep, turkeys, mini horses, zebra, mini donkey and emu.



The Animals of the World Exhibit is located in Barn J, Sept. 5-9. The Washington State Fair is one of the biggest fairs in the world and the largest in the Pacific Northwest. It started in 1900 in Puyallup, and welcomes more than one million guests to the single largest attended event in the state.

Star-studded entertainment, the PRCA Rodeo, rides, exhibits, food, flowers and animals are mainstays of the 17-day event in September.
