Ridgefield Lions serve community with holiday food boxes

Cliff Clark has a special interest in supporting families during the holidays. When he was young, his family received a food box that made all the difference for them, according to a Ridgefield Lions press release.

“I’ll never forget it,” Clark said in the release. “Remembering families at this time is so important. It’s on my heart.”

Clark, a Ridgefield Lions vice president, challenged the club to increase its support for families during the holidays with food boxes. In response, Ridgefield Lions members personally donated $2,750, which was matched by the club for a total of $5,500. This funding was used to buy food for 110 boxes for families.

“I’m flabbergasted,”Lions President Josh Olson said in the release. “What a great response.” This was the first year that Ridgefield Lions coordinated with Compassion 360 in this effort.”

On Nov. 20, Ridgefield Lions and Compassion 360 volunteers assembled and delivered the boxes, each of which included a turkey, pumpkin pies, rolls and ingredients for sweet potato casserole, along with other items.
