Battle Ground schools continue LEGO Summer Academy

Creativity was on display last week at Captain Strong Primary, as third and fourth grade students in the school’s Aspire program showed off their LEGO creations.

The event, overseen by teachers Katie Prill and Susan Crill, challenged teams of students to design a LEGO robot that met criteria including number of movements, sounds and at least 20 blocks of coding, the Battle Ground Public Schools newsletter stated

Once their project was designed, built and tested, parents and guardians were invited for a sales pitch from the students about their design, the newsletter stated.

Students learned teamwork, design, computer programming, troubleshooting, math and marketing during the event.

Prill said in the newsletter that even students who weren’t particularly excited about the project at first quickly became enthusiastic when they saw the potential of the kits.
