The death of 32-year-old Joanna Speaks, of Oregon, hasn’t been connected to the deaths of four other area women where the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office found links, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported.

On July 17, the sheriff’s office announced its major crimes unit did not have any evidence linking Speaks’ homicide with the four other cases. Earlier that day the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office linked four death investigations of area women to a single suspect.

The investigation into Speaks’ death is active, and the major crimes unit is investigating the potential Speaks’ murder could be connected to the other cases, the sheriff’s office’s announcement stated. The unit is in communication with detectives from other involved agencies.

Speaks was discovered April 8 on abandoned property near the 8000 block of South Fifth Street in Ridgefield The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Speaks died from “blunt head and neck injuries.” There were indications the body was moved to the location, according to reports from later that month.
