Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) patrol deputies located partially decomposed human remains in a tent structure at a transient camp near the Clark County Fairgrounds on April 22, CCSO stated in a news release.

Following an online resident report, the partially decomposed body was located in the wooded area north of Northeast 179th Street near Northeast 10th Avenue, the release stated.

Due to several factors, including the difficulty accessing the site, responders recovered the body on April 23. Clark County Search and Rescue and Silver Star Search and Rescue volunteers cut a path through the woods, providing easier access to the transient camp, the release stated.

The CCSO Major Crimes Unit and the Clark County Medical Examiner’s office disassembled the tent structure and recovered the human remains. According to the release, officials believe the remains were there for an extended period of time, estimated between six to 12 months.

The identity of the deceased is still under investigation by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to CCSO, no foul play is suspected, but the death remains under investigation.
