Eleven high school students from Battle Ground Public Schools (BGPS) received special recognition for achievement in mathematics, science and technology from Hudson’s Bay Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

A reception was held on May 18 at WSU Vancouver to award the young women “Certificates of Excellence.” The students were selected by teachers and counselors at their respective schools.

AAUW is a national organization of more than 100,000 members who hold an associate (or equivalent), baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally-accredited college of university. This mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.

The AAUW Scholars Recognition Program recognizes young women who excel in mathematics, science and technology, and encourages them to continue their studies and careers in these fields.
