Someone emailed me The Reflector’s recent article “Clark College welcomes commencement speaker Byron Pitts”. Pitts’ overcoming the challenges of poverty, illiteracy and stuttering is an inspirational example to anyone facing a challenge.
In terms of stuttering, the ABC News correspondent-at-large has lent his name to the Stuttering Foundation to help children who stutter. The Stuttering Foundation website (www.stutteringhelp.org) has a biographical article on Pitts and how he overcame stuttering on the way to the top. There are also articles on other high-profile stutterers such as Bruce Willis,Marc Anthony, Dominick Dunne, Emily Blunt, Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, B.B. King and Lewis Carroll.
I wish I could have been at the commencement at Clark College recently, and hope that it ends up on YouTube.
