Ramblings from a reformed redneck

Posted

After being out of state for two weeks, I had to catch up on reading The Reflector. I’m happy to see that (Editor) Ken (Vance) behaved himself nicely and kept writing those incisive editorials.  I was extra appreciative of the one on private property.  We had some leaders in the 1990s who didn’t believe in that concept.

On another subject, Mr. Kimbrough was disturbed that not everyone was ecstatic about Netanyahu’s telling our congress how it should be.  How would Israel have liked it if President Obama had tried to tell the Israeli voters and lawmakers how to conduct the election in their country?

Mr. Bohner drove another nail in his party’s coffin with that action. The fact that the American Jewish community was not real happy about Netanyahu’s interference in our attempts at making peace should tell Mr. Kimbrough something. Netanyahu’s own country is seriously divided on this issue.

Many of the most severe critics of Netanyahu have Jewish surnames.  After dealing with Jewish people extensively, both in business and personally, I have a king-sized opinion of their born in intelligence developed over thousands of years of hardships.  I am also a big fan of giving peace a chance.  We can always start another unwinnable war in the Middle East since the one under Mr. Bush has been such a roaring success.

Such activity as bringing in a foreign leader to tell us how to do it is the reason you see the heading, reformed redneck. I am now a confirmed Independent after 60 years of voting Republican. The Republican Party just keeps shooting itself in the knee.

As I understand history, Iran (ancient Persia) was once the hub of civilization. I expect to see positive changes in Iran coming soon.  If we handle it right, this will come from the Iranian people’s desire to rejoin world society.
