People’s thoughts on bridge issue are being ignored

Posted

Why are we only given options for a new I-5 bridge or a third bridge to the east of I-205? A new I-5 bridge idea seems to have more lives than the proverbial cat.

Enough time and money has been wasted on the idea of replacing a bridge that has been declared perfectly serviceable by engineers. And a new bridge to the east of I-205 wouldn’t do the I-5 corridor much good, which is the idea behind a third bridge.

More and more people keep suggesting and asking about a bridge to the west of the rail bridge. This is the way big cities build by-passes, and it seems Portland and Vancouver really want to be considered big cities, so why not a bridge to the west? This would service the metro area better by taking truck and car traffic off the I-5 bridge that would be heading to the west counties or bypassing both city centers altogether.

Either way it seems to me a huge amount of peoples’ opinions and questions are being ignored and more money being spent to go nowhere.
