I have written before and I am writing again about our great nation. This letter questions why our democracy is failing.
Our government is controlled by capitalism and money rather than wisdom and goodwill. Corporations are feeding money to our voted representatives through the system of lobbyists. In effect, the corporations are buying and controlling our government at both the state and national level.
I would appreciate if someone could explain to me how this is working for our democracy. Franklin D. Roosevelt created a system of checks, balances and regulations that managed to control the country and keep our democracy working for all. The people in the armed services and the common person were happy with his system and he was voted into office four times.
In my opinion, we have allowed money, power and deregulations to spoil our democracy. I would like our Congress and representatives to explain why they have allowed this to happen.
Our representatives should be responsible for their decisions and actions. I would like to hear more about how the two parties are helping our country.
