Vote on upcoming Nov. 7 general election or keep quiet

Ballots are on their way and I hope that you are a registered voter and participate in this November’s elections. If you’re not then get registered now before it’s too late.

A handful of cities in Clark County are being asked for additional funds for their police and fire departments. Is your city one of them? What is the ratio of calls they are responding to compared to the funds they are receiving? What will the money go towards? You should read the voters pamphlet or look for pertinent information in The Reflector’s election edition next week, if you don’t know the answers.

No one likes to pay more in taxes, including me, but I listened to Fire District # 3 Chief Steve Wrightson speak at the Battle Ground Chamber luncheon on Oct. 5 and was shocked at the increase of calls they respond to compared to 10 years ago. Did you realize that their levy is a replacement levy and not a new one?

For those of you who live in Woodland, how do you feel about building a swimming pool and community center? You can vote on it.

District commissioners represent you for your schools, fire and rescue, wastewater, city council and much more. They are the individuals you should be picking and the only way to do that is by voting.

Please be sure to read the voters pamphlet, determine what’s important to you and let your opinion be counted. If you don’t vote, you show that you don’t care. If you don’t care then I think you shouldn’t complain about the way things are being taken care of in your community.
