Our technology is improving - shouldn't our way of making products be also?

We Americans rely on plastic. From our garbage bags to our cars, we are surrounded by it. We might be far from curbing our addiction to plastic anytime soon, but we do need to stop our addiction to fossil fuels, and a place to start is learning how to make plastic without burning fossil fuels. We’re running out of time, and making yet another plant that will be obsolete within the next century isn’t going to help. We have the materials and technology to fund a greener way to make plastic than shipping it all the way to China and back. We need to make a change soon, why not now? I’m only 15 and even I realize which option is better. It’s quite simple: waste more time and resources on something that will, in the end, hurt us and the environment largely, or take a step into a greener future. My generation is counting on it.
