Law-abiding gun owners don’t terrorize people

Recently, in a televised “town hall” meeting, Hillary Clinton declared that it’s time to reinstate the Clinton gun ban. And then she said this about gun owners:

“We cannot let a minority of people - and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people - hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.”

Actually the incidence of murder with the use of a firearm has gone down from 10,129 in 2007 to 8,583 in 2011. That is a decline of 1,546 or 15.26% per the FBI Expanded Homicide Data Table 8 (www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8)

This woman has nothing but contempt for us and our Second Amendment rights. She knows that the Clinton gun ban did nothing to prevent violent crime. And she doesn’t care, because her goal has nothing to do with public safety. Her goal is to eliminate our freedom, strip us of our fundamental right to self-defense, and eliminate guns from our society.

Each and every one of those murders is a tragedy and for the victims and their families it is an unspeakable horror. Having said that we do not have a crisis in our country. Overall murder rates by firearm are down and based on the numbers the murder rate by firearm is .0000268 percent of the US population in 2011.

I am a gun owner and I do not “terrorize the majority of people” and neither do law-abiding gun owners. I resent her statement and her accusation that I am terrorizing people is just plain wrong.
