David Lee Kennedy

David Lee Kennedy passed away on March 4, 2019 of cancer and pneumonia at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, OR.

David was born on January 13, 1968 in Vancouver, WA and came home to View District of La Center, WA, with his parents David James “Jim” Kennedy (deceased 1999) and Lenore Mae Kennedy (now residing Amboy, WA).

He lived in Clark County most of his life. He loved the outdoors. In 2004 he was working for a tree topping service when he was holding onto a rope to keep a limb from falling of the roof of a house. The limb fell on his head which knocked him unconscious, still clinging to the rope it slung him against the tree trunk. He spent six weeks in the Trauma Care Unit of Emanuel Hospital with head/brain and neck injuries. Even with numbness down his right-side, he managed to walk again, but he couldn’t do much. He still loved the outdoors. He’d walk the two dogs “Trixie and Duchess” six to eight times a day, often sitting on the bench outside with the dogs after the walk.

The dogs loved him too. When David walked through the house, their heads would pop-up, ears alert and eyes watching David for the signal that he was ready to take them outside. When David grabbed a hold of the leashes, the dogs were by his side.

David never married. He had no children. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Dock H. Kennedy (1986-?) and his grandmother Rose Jane Kennedy (1996).

He is survived by his grandmother Hazel (Fenimore) (Bush) Roath of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; sister Beverly Kennedy of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Roger (Gayle) Kennedy of Amboy, WA; half-sister (mother’s side) Teresa (Mike) Gwaltney of Amboy, WA; half -sister (father’s side) Jennifer Jane Kennedy of Vancouver, WA.

There was no funeral service. Cascadia Cremation & Burial Services, Inc. was in charge of the undertaking and his cremation. David’s urn is at home now. Later on am thinking of placing his urn in Park Hill Cemetery where his grandpa Winton James Bush (1961) and premature sister Jeannie Sue Kennedy (1962) are buried.
