An off-duty Portland Police Bureau officer was arrested in Ridgefield Sept. 6 on one charge of fourth-degree domestic violence assault, the bureau reported last week.

James Morris, a 20-year-veteran of the PPB, was arrested by the Ridgefield Police Department, the bureau announced. Morris, who is assigned to the forensic evidence division of the bureau, was placed on administrative leave “and his police powers will be rescinded pending an internal investigation,” PBB announced.

Morris has been booked into the Clark County Jail. The PBB did not provide further information or comment on the arrest, stating it would interfere with “conducting a neutral, objective investigation” that the bureau is conducting.
