RIDGEFIELD – Emma Waddle, a second grade student at South Ridge Elementary, won first place in the Ridgefield School District's annual Holiday Greeting Card Contest. Waddle's artwork depicts a snowman and tree surrounded by falling snow, viewed from a window.

Waddle and two runners-up were recognized at a Dec. 8 district board meeting. Waddle's work adorns the district's holiday greeting card, which is sent out to approximately 200 public and private organizations that partner with the district.

The contest, sponsored by the Ridgefield Art Association, awarded $50 to Waddle for her first-place effort. Uruwa Abe, a fifth grader, and Ella Norman, a third grader, each received $25. All three art pieces will be on display in the district office through the holiday season.
