Battle Ground High School’s AFJROTC takes first place

Battle Ground High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) made history on Nov. 16, winning first place at both Unarmed and Armed Drill Team during the Northwest Drill & Rifle Columbia River Division Competition in Oregon City. Not only did the teams win both competitions, it’s the first time the teams have taken home a win against the 11 other schools in the division.

BGHS junior Trey Bardonski commanded the Unarmed Drill Team, and junior Ryan Williamson commanded the Armed Drill Team to victory.

Battle Ground AFJROTC excelled in the competition taking multiple top place finishes. Senior Nicholas Cross led the Sporter Air Rifle team to second place and personally placed second in the individual overall competition. Sophomore Lindsay Owens also led the Precision Team to third place overall.

Below is a recap of the team’s performance during the Nov. 16 competition:



Unarmed Drill Team: First Place. Unarmed Drill Team Commander, Trey Bardonski: First Place.

Armed Drill Team: First Place. Armed Drill Team Commander, Ryan Williamson: Third Place.

Sporter Air Rifle Team: Second Place. Sporter Air Rifle Individual, Nicholas Cross: Second Place.

Precision Air Rifle Team: Third Place. Color Guard No. 2: Fourth Place. Dual Armed Drill: Fourth Place. Strength Team: Eighth place.
