Teen dies in Yacolt truck crash

A 17-year-old died in a single vehicle crash in Yacolt the morning of Dec. 3 with icy roads the likely factor.

At about 9 a.m., fire and law enforcement responded to the accident in the 34900 block of Northeast Kelly Road, a release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office states. Responders discovered a full-size pickup truck upside down off the roadway, having struck a tree. The sole occupant, a 17-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This week the victim was confirmed as Cory Lindberg of Yacolt.

A witness told responders that the vehicle was “fishtailing” on icy roads prior to the crash.

The sheriff’s office said the death was a reminder for drivers to use “extreme caution” during freezing temperatures — roads that do not dry out and freeze overnight can lead to deadly conditions.
