ilani shows off what new playing cards will look like

Last week ilani shared their artwork design for their playing cards. The king of spades was one example of ilani’s cards that features the elements of The Cowlitz Tribe’s history. On the king card pictured, “the King,” holds a talking stick displaying the Northwest Coast Art-styled salmon of the Cowlitz Tribal logo with the Sxepawn (“sunset”) shining overhead.

For the Cowlitz people talking sticks conveyed that an individual holding the stick had the floor to speak. Each person received one turn, unless called on.
