The Battle Ground Police Department and Clark County Fire District 3 responded to an incident the morning of May 20 involving a pick-up truck that struck several objects along Northwest Ninth Street in Battle Ground.

Just before 10 a.m., a resident located in the 100 block of Northwest Ninth Street called 9-1-1 to report a pick-up truck had pulled into the home’s driveway, struck its garage door and drove away.

Additional callers to 9-1-1 reported seeing a pick-up truck hit a pole on Northwest Ninth Street, and finally, several cars in the staff parking lot/bus turnaround area between Chief Umtuch Middle and Captain Strong Primary Schools, located at 700 NW Ninth St.

When police and fire personnel arrived at the scene in the school parking lot, they found the pick-up truck with a woman inside. Damage to the truck was such that fire personnel needed to cut the vehicle open to remove the woman. She was then transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported. There was damage to a residential garage door and six cars that were parked in the school’s parking lot.

Janet M. Williams, 73, of Battle Ground, has been identified as the driver of the truck. Battle Ground Police Department is conducting a full investigation into the incident.
