THE 16TH ANNUAL Clark Public Utilities’ Stream Team Earth Day Celebration will be held Sat., April 18 at Salmon Creek Regional Park.
Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam is hosting its annual Earth Day Celebration Sat., April 18 in partnership with Clark County Department of Environmental Services.
The 16th Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held at Salmon Creek Regional Park – 1112 NE 117th St., Vancouver – with activities for the whole family.
The family-friendly event, open to the public, will include a free community EcoFair between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with plenty of fun and educational activities for all-ages. There will be raffle prizes, face painting, a Birds of Prey show by the Audubon Society, live insect and reptile displays and a physics juggling act.
Children are also welcome to take part in a nature walk where wild salmon will be released into Salmon Creek. For parents who need a break, Vancouver Montessori will be on hand to provide supervised children’s activities.
“This year the EcoFair is focused on making Earth Day a celebration of nature and the beautiful area where we live,” said Ashley King, StreamTeam coordinator for Clark Public Utilities. “It’s a perfect afternoon activity for the whole family with lots of new things to experience.”
In addition to the EcoFair, hundreds of volunteers will pitch in from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to plant native trees and help remove invasive Garlic mustard. These activities are popular and volunteers must register in advance to participate – all training and supplies will be provided. EcoFair attendees do not need to register. Lunch from Tommy O’s will be free to volunteers, and the first 200 EcoFair attendees can choose between a free lunch or a vine maple. Lunch will also be available for purchase at the EcoFair.

The StreamTeam is a volunteer-driven program of Clark Public Utilities comprised of more than 1,000 team members who donate more than 3,500 hours of their time each year to save salmon.
StreamTeam members come from a myriad of backgrounds including utility employees, Stream Stewards, scout groups, college students, youth groups and active retirees.
