Battle Ground JROTC shines at recent drill meet

Eight Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) teams from around the region gathered at Prairie High School at the end January for the Northwest JROTC Drill and Rifle Conference, Columbia River Division drill meet. 

Battle Ground High School’s JROTC team had one of the strongest showings, finishing with the following awards:  

The unarmed drill team took first place and the Unarmed Team Commander. Lieutenant Colonel Josiah Rothe, also finished in first place. 

The unarmed dual team of Jaelyn Carr and Hailey Hamilton took first place, and Jabob Pfingsten and Rylee Petersen finished third. 



The Precision marksmanship team took second and Taylor Harpe was third overall among individual shooter, while the Sporter team took fourth place.  

In the unarmed drill down competition, Tyler Venneri took first place.
