The Price Foundation presents a check for $11,000 to the Venersborg Historic Preservation Society (VHPS) on July 17 at the Venersborg Schoolhouse.

The Venersborg Historic Preservation Society recently replaced the roof of the historic Venersborg Schoolhouse through an $11,000 donation from the Price Foundation. The historic Venersborg Schoolhouse is located at 24309 NE 209th St., Battle Ground. HomeMasters roofing out of Battle Ground completed the roof in mid August.
The schoolhouse was built in 1912 and is on the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Register of Historic Places. Among other things, it is now used as a rental space for various events and acts as a community center from the folks of Venersborg.
The Price Foundation is in honor of two longtime staples of Cowlitz County, Frank L. and Arlene G. Price. Arlene taught art at Huntington Junior High School in Kelso and Frank Price was a Cowlitz County Superior Court judge.
The foundation is giving $145,000 worth of donations to local nonprofits this year, and gave $175,000 in 2017.
