Play Bunco to get the Hockinson Band to the Big Apple

Hockinson High School Band has plans to visit the Big Apple in 2020 for Emerson Tubbs, but they need your help getting there. This Saturday they’ll be holding a Bunco benefit at Pied Piper Pizza where anyone can join, no experience necessary. Loads of prizes are up for grabs, and not only does your ticket guarantee you a seat, but it also gets you a warm slice of pizza and a refreshing soda.

‘Quilts, Quilts, Quilts’

Heads up, patchwork enthusiasts.

North Clark Historical Museum’s 14th Annual Quilt Show is happening this weekend with award-winner Mavis Kent making a guest appearance. This year’s theme is “Quilts, Quilts, Quilts.”

Kent, who is a professional geologist as well as a quilter extraordinaire, will have several quilts on display as well as a demonstration on her hand quilting techniques on Saturday and her “Crazy Quilt” techniques on Sunday.

The Chelatchie Quilters will also have an exhibit set up displaying their group’s work.

“I think the best part is seeing all the different quilts that are done, all the color combinations and patterns put together,” said Terry Cook, owner of Chelatchie quilts.  “There is a lot of hand quilting that’s been done on this year’s quilts and embroidery.”

To help raise funds for the museum, the Chelatchie Quilters have also produced this year’s raffle quilt “Cabin in the Woods.” It, along with quilts they’ve sewn for the Children’s Home Society, will be on display and tickets for the raffle will be available to purchase at the event.
