Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will be used to support Fort Vancouver Regional Library District’s programs and services.

Gabaldon has sold more than 26 million books worldwide. They have been published in 34 languages in 38 countries. Her books have won critical acclaim with their crossover appeal, according to a news release from the Library Foundation.

Salon.com describes the Outlander series as “the smartest historical sci-fi adventure-romance story every written by a science Ph.D with a background in scripting,” according to the news release. The eighth novel in the series, “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood,” was released last June and became a New York Times bestseller.

Attention for the Outlander series has soared since the television adaptation premiered on the Starz network in August. The TV adaptation has been spearheaded by Ronald D. Moore, of “Battlestar Galactica” and “Star Trek” fame.
