The Clark College Alumni Association is accepting nominations for its annual Outstanding Alumni Award.

Since 1978, the Clark College Outstanding Alumni Award has recognized alumni for their exceptional service to Clark College, exemplary service to the community and personal and professional achievements.

To nominate a candidate for the award, visit Outstanding Alumni Award or call (360) 992-2301 to receive a nomination form in the mail. Nominations close on March 31, 2013. One does not need to be an alumni of Clark College to submit a nomination.

The award recipient will be announced at the Clark College Alumni-Student Dinner held on June 4, 2013.

The 2012 award winners were Barbara Saur ’86 and James R. Martin ’68.  Saur, who was 57 when she graduated from Clark with a certificate in business technology, was determined to re-enter the work force after an 11 year hiatus and so began a decade-long career as a program assistant in Clark’s Women’s Programs mentoring women in the Displaced Homemaker Program. Her friendly and kind manner was appreciated by the women she mentored, and resulted in more women staying in school.

Martin, chief investment officer for M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, has provided his expertise to many foundations in the Southwest Washington community. He earned an associate degree in business accounting at Clark and continued on to Eastern Washington University for a bachelor’s in accounting. He also holds a Certified Public Accountant credential.

Established in 1973, the Clark College Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves as the fundraising partner with Clark College to support student access through educational programs and community resources. The foundation is nationally recognized for excellence in superior fundraising.
