Woodland Library’s upper level closed May 29-June 3

Frayed carpeting will soon be a thing of the past upstairs at Woodland Community Library. Fort Vancouver Regional Library District will brighten up the second-floor children’s and teen’s areas of the library with new paint on the walls and new carpet during the first three days of June.

The carpet replacement is primarily a safety improvement in an area of the library that gets heavy use.

The second level will be closed starting at noon on Fri., May 29 to allow staff to pack up books from shelving that will be moved during the re-carpeting. The closure will continue during two days of painting and re-carpeting on Monday and Tuesday, June 1 and 2, and through Wed., June 3, when staff will re-shelve books and rearrange furniture to get the space ready for use again.

Because of the closure, the Wed., June 3, 10:00 a.m. story-time program will be held at the next-door Woodland Community Center instead of at the library.

All other library services and resources will be available as usual on the lower level of the library during the re-carpeting project, including regular open hours: Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Alternative library locations for children’s and teen resources during Woodland’s second-floor closure include La Center Community Library (1411 NE Lockwood Creek Rd. – open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and Monday through Wednesday) and Three Creeks Community Library (800-C NE Tenney Rd., Vancouver – open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday).

Planning is underway for a future larger library in Woodland, with a potential completion timeline of at least two or three years.
