Magenta Theater will present its production of “Rose Colored Glass,” written by Susan Bigelow and Janice Goldbert, with performances coming up June 12-27.

“Rose Colored Glass” is a highly dramatic tale of friendship and salvation. Set in 1938 Chicago, the story takes place in the back rooms of Lady O’Riley’s Irish Pub and Rose Fleishman’s Jewish Delicatessen.

Their disparate worlds, separated by much more than the alley between their kitchens, are about to collide. Peg O’Riley, the 13-year-old granddaughter of Lady, has grown determined that these two mistrustful widows will become friends, but it is not until they become involved in the same cause that their friendship has a chance to bloom.

In a series of flashbacks, Peg (played by Lauren Scher, making her Magenta Theater debut) now older, remembers the moving story of how Lady (played by Michele Glover, last seen in Magenta’s production of “Black Coffee”) and Rose (played by K.C. Cooper, most recently seen in Magenta productions “Calendar Girls” and “Barefoot in the Park”) formed a united front to fight American apathy in an attempt to bring Rose’s nephew out of Europe before the war. This is the Magenta Theater Directorial debut for Brenda McGinnis, who most recently performed in “Calendar Girls” and “The Women of Lockerbie.”

Performances will be held June 12-27, at Magenta Theater, 606 Main St., Vancouver. Tickets are on sale now are cost $15-$18. Purchase tickets at www.MagentaTickets.com/Tickets.
