Clark County bike map updated

Posted

Cyclists of Clark County can now find the best ways to travel around the area using an updated version of the City of Vancouver’s “Cycling Vancouver and Clark County” map.

The updated map is color-coded to display paved multi-use paths, streets that have striped bike lanes, parts that are shared roadways, difficult connections, and places where caution should be used. Additionally, this map shows where new bike routes are planned, and where traveling by bike is not allowed.

There’s also an online version of the updated map available on Clark County’s Geographic Information System website. The online version of the map is interactive, allowing you to click individual routes to find out what the conditions are at that time.

The printed map includes information about how to properly share the road with cars with visual examples. The printed map also discusses traffic signals like pavement loops, pavement loop markers, and traffic detecting cameras. Additionally, the map advises how to ride safely by using proper hand signals, making eye contact with drivers, making sure your bike has front and back lights, as well as the importance of wearing a helmet.

The printed copy of the map provides resources on who to contact for street matancence on potholes, or requesting street sweeping. It also informs readers on how to travel C-Tran and Trimet with a bicycle.
