Adopt a dog or cat from an area pet organization

Posted

Numerous dogs and cats are looking for forever homes in the Clark County area.

Here are just a few from a couple of area pet organizations:

The Humane Society

for Southwest Washington

Meet Miss Kitty: Miss Kitty is a very special cat and would like to get to know her new owner on her own terms. She is an 8-year-old brown tabby who had a big upset in her life last year. She was depressed and kept to herself when she first came to the shelter, but she’s been there quite a while now and has proven she’s a warm, affectionate cat with definite opinions.

Miss Kitty doesn’t like being picked up and she’s not a lap cat; she prefers to come to her person for affection when she’s ready and sit or stand beside you. When she is ready for petting, she’s a purring machine. She does not approve of other cats, and because of her strict handling rules, shelter staff are asking that she not be adopted into a home with other cats or children younger than 10 years old.

The adoption fee for senior cats, 7 years old and older, is usually $25.

All adoptions at The Humane Society for Southwest Washington include spay or neuter surgery, microchip ID system and national registration, flea treatment for cats, vaccinations, free veterinary exam with a local participating veterinarian, animal training information, low cost pet insurance options and more.

The Humane Society is located at 1100 NE 192nd Ave., Vancouver, and can be reached at (360) 693-4746. Visit their website at www.southwesthumane.org.

Second Chance Companions

Meet Wookie: Wookie is a 3-year-old dachshund and border terrier mix. He is a one-of-a-kind dog and is full of spirit and ready to love and take the world on. He loves to chase balls and toys, and he loves to play tug of war. He would really like to play with squirrels if they would let him. Right now he has a fenced yard and he will spend hours outside.

Wookie does get along with other dogs, however, he does like to be the center of attention. He is best with children ages 5 years and older since he does tend to jump up when he is excited and can knock little ones over. A cat-free home would be best for Wookie. He knows his basic commands and is house trained, crate trained and is microchipped.

Anyone interested in adopting Wookie should fill out an adoption application at www.sccpets.com.
