Mattress Superstore co-owner Cory Tuttle isn’t even a bit bashful when it comes to talking about the prices his Battle Ground store offers area customers on mattresses.
“We overwhelm our competition due to great service and great prices, we always have better prices, and we do it deliberately,’’ said Tuttle, who along with business partner John Cooley own the Mattress Superstore located at 1419 W. Main St. in Battle Ground (in front of the Best Western Hotel).
Tuttle and Cooley both used to work for another major retail mattress store, but they didn’t feel that store treated customers the way they should be treated so the two ventured into business themselves.
“The way we wanted to do things, we got in trouble for and that was mainly just taking care of the customer,’’ Tuttle said. “Now, we have a fantastic ‘formula’ that allows us to take care of the customer.’’
Tuttle said Mattress Superstore is able to offer low prices because they maintain a lower overhead than other stores and “we have great customers that tell their friends about us.”
“We do a little newspaper advertising, but we really revolve around word of mouth ... that’s the best advertising,’’ he said.
And, Tuttle is quick to point out that Mattress Superstore also has the top brands, including Sealy, Spring Air, Serta, Stearns & Foster, Tempurpedic, and more.
Major brands and low prices are only part of the “formula” at Mattress Superstore. Tuttle and Cooley say it’s customer service that truly makes them Mattress Superstore.
“A big part of it is offering services that other stores can’t, or won’t offer,’’ Tuttle said. “Even if it’s a $399 mattress, we offer free delivery and set up and we will take away the old mattress.’’
Tuttle said Mattress Superstore’s delivery area encompasses all of Clark County and beyond. Same-day delivery is possible depending on the time of day the sale is completed. They offer delivery most days of week, even on Saturdays.
Tuttle pointed out that Mattress Superstore also offers no-money-down and no-interest financing on approved credit. Also, Mattress Superstore doesn’t make customers jump through any hoops if there is a question of warranty. Tuttle said other stores will refer customers to the manufacturer to make a warranty claim.
“We come out to the customer’s house ourselves and see if it is defective and then replace it free with no charges,’’ Tuttle said. “If we have to throw in a free frame, or free sheets, we’re super easy to work with. We always come out ahead for doing that so why wouldn’t we take care of people that way?’’
The Tuttle family and the Cooley family both live locally, Cory and John can be found working in the store on a regular basis. They said they chose Battle Ground three years ago because of their appreciation for the city and the surrounding area and they have been active in the community supporting athletic teams and even pitching in when an opportunity arises for someone in need.
“We just really liked the city,’’ Tuttle said. “It’s a great, growing town. We just got a good feeling about it. Battle Ground is one of those great small towns that really rally’s together.”
Tuttle said he and Cooley have had a blast taking care of people the last three years in Battle Ground, and are excited about many more.
“We got your back,” Tuttle said.
