Popular area hair stylist Lea Graves and massage therapist Devon Ratley have teamed up to recently open the Main Street Studio Hair and Massage Company in downtown Ridgefield.

“We’ve known each other since we were both 15,” says Ratley, “and finally we decided that we’d make the dream we’d shared over the years of working together happen.”

Graves, who has been in the hair industry for a dozen years, was recognized last year by placing third nationwide in famed hair stylist Nick Arrojo’s Master’s of Beauty Contest. Until recently, she worked at the Essentials Day Spa in Vancouver, where she amassed a long list of loyal customers.

Ratley, a licensed massage therapist, is in her seventh year of practicing massage, recently out of a small studio in Woodland. She specializes in deep tissue and injury treatment. She regularly works with most of the major health care insurance companies and chiropractic offices and also offers various spa treatments and relaxation massages.

Main Street Studio Hair and Massage Company offers extensive salon treatments, including women’s, men’s and children’s cuts; partial or full foil, Ombre’, Balayage or All Over color, conditioning treatment, and lip or eyebrow wax. Massage services include 30-60-90 minute sessions, hot stone, body wraps, foot rejuvenation, hand and foot paraffin dip, and aromatherapy foot soaks.

The small Main Street studio is attractively decorated, with a comfortable window seat couch for those waiting for appointments, a hair washing station and stylists chair. The massage studio is equipped with soft, muted lighting, and a pseudo-fireplace for atmosphere.

The studio also is the only spa or stylist to carry Nick Arrojo’s award-winning line of cosmetics.

“We’re the only place carrying his product line between California and Seattle,” Graves said.

Arrojo, a celebrity hair stylist based in the So-Ho neighborhood of New York City, worked as a stylist for Vidal Sassoon, and was the stylist on TLC’s network show What Not to Wear.

Finally realizing a dream they’ve had since their teens, Graves and Ratley are already getting calls from old customers wanting to come to the new studio, and their reservations are filling up.

“Our best advice, call soon and book your appointment,” says Graves. “We don’t want anyone disappointed.”

Their five-year plan is to continue growing in downtown Ridgefield, with the studio eventually offering tanning, nails, pedicures, manicures and an Esthetician (skin care specialist).

“We hope to grow with the city, we love it here already, and we’ve only been opened a month,’’ Ratley said. “Hopefully, we can grow with our new community.’’
