Couple starts ‘Timeless’ business in Clark County

Over the recent Christmas holiday, Carrie and Justin Farrell decided to try their hand at something new – a business which entails taking old sports, equestrian or any other equipment and turning the beloved items into jewelry or other accessories such as cuff links, necklaces, watches, earrings and more.

The two decided to call their new business Timeless.

Justin said the idea for the business came about when his wife, who is the head softball coach at Concordia University, made a customized watch for some members of her team and staff.

“She saw a watch on Pinterest and thought she could use sports items or other memorabilia to make fashion accessories or home accessories,” Justin said. “This is a way to keep items that would be left in boxes or given away part of one everyday life and home.”

Currently, Justin said they keep pre-made products on hand for people to order through their Etsy store, but they are most excited to offer to have people send them their own memorabilia/used gear to repurpose into something that they can use rather than sit on a shelf and collect dust. Examples of this could be an old baseball glove, a football used in a significant game, etc.

“We think this may be especially of interest to parents whose children have left home and left behind their trophies/equipment from sports they played during childhood,” Justin said. “It could also be a good thank you gift for coaches at the end of the season. These can also be made from equipment that has a favorite team logo.”

Although Justin said there are of course limits on what they can do with the memorabilia that customers may want turned into something new, they are able to get creative. A customer can tell them what they have and what they want to have it made into, and they will find a way to make it happen. The Etsy store they have set up online has a few examples, but Justin said they are open to anything.

As of right now, Justin said they have used sporting items like baseball gloves, basketballs, footballs, etc., and have made them into watches, earrings, cufflinks and pendants. They have also made jerseys into pillows and trophies into coat racks.

In addition to their Etsy store, Timeless will also have a booth at the upcoming SportsFest Expo Jan. 24-25, at the Portland Expo Center.

Justin, 33, and Carrie, 35, live in Vancouver with their two children, Grace, 6, and Alex, 4. Visit their Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TimelessWA?ref=l2-shopheader-name.
