The Golden Coin and Jewelry celebrates one year

This past March, The Golden Coin and Jewelry celebrated its first full year in business at its location at 10 S. Parkway Ave., in Battle Ground.

Roger and Elyssa Morris, owners of The Golden Coin and Jewelry, celebrated the business’ one-year anniversary with an open house celebration on April 27, which consisted of door prizes, refreshments and more.

Opened in March 2012, The Golden Coin and Jewelry provides an area source of vintage and fashion jewelry, as well as coins, antiques and collectibles.

“We are a highly-competitive purchaser and seller of precious metals and diamonds,” Elyssa said. “Customers who have shopped around come back time and again saying Roger has the best prices in the Portland/Vancouver area. We also offer coins, antiques and collectibles. Our business could be considered an additional outlet for antiques, which Battle Ground is becoming known for.”

Roger has been collecting coins and pocket watches since he was 8 years old and Elyssa said this hobby turned into a business, which makes work quite enjoyable for the two of them. Since the shop provides competitive pricing for precious metals, this allows area residents the luxury of staying local while making precious metal purchases and sales. Elyssa said the antiques they have are diverse and add to the options available to Battle Ground residents and visitors.

“We’ve kept our overhead costs to a minimum and can pass the savings to the customer,” she said.

The Morris’ first year in business as The Golden Coin and Jewelry was what Elyssa called an “educational experience” and it has gone well. They have some loyal customers and look forward to meeting more. Roger and Elyssa have lived in Battle Ground since 2003 and have three daughters in schools in the area. They’ve also been able to help support the local community, including the North County Community Food Bank, Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool, CAM Academy and more.
