A suspected poached deer found in the Battle Ground area late last month. The animal was pregnant with two males “days away from being born,” according to Washington Department Fish and Wildlife Officer Van Vladricken.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is investigating a suspected poaching near Battle Ground, the department announced last week.
According to WDFW, the alleged poaching of a pregnant doe happened near the city.
According to a statement by WDFW Officer Van Vladricken, the animal was “left to waste” off of Northeast Berry Road to the east of Battle Ground.
Vladricken said the doe “was found with multiple bullet wounds and had twin fawns (both male) days away from being born.” The department said the animal was believed to have been shot either on May 23 or 24 and was found days later.
The department is seeking assistance in identifying any suspects or vehicles involved, Vladricken stated in the May 29 post.
