Washington wines subject of presentation

A program titled “The Promise of Washington Wines” will be presented from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 10, at Washington State University’s Vancouver campus.

The discussion at Firstenburg Student Commons, 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., will be presented by Thomas Henick-Kling, director of WSU’s new Wine Science Center. It part of the Chancellor’s Seminar Series lectures.



Henick-Kling will speak about Washington wines and the Wine Science Center’s role in the state’s economic growth. An internationally renowned researcher and professor of viticulture and enology at WSU Tri-Cities, Henick-Kling is an expert in both the science and the business of wine, according to a news release. He was instrumental in establishing the viticulture and enology program at Cornell University, where he was a faculty member for 20 years.

Russell Brent, owner of Mill Creek Pub in Battle Ground, and Walt Houser, owner of Bethany Vineyard and Winery in Ridgefield, will lead a question-and-answer session.
