The machine recount for Washington’s Third Congressional District is complete, and unofficial numbers show Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez remains the winner of the seat.
Kent’s campaign spent close to $49,000 in order for the machine recount to happen. Overall, each candidate received a handful of additional votes, though it was far from putting Kent over the slim lead Gluesenkamp Perez held.
Gluesenkamp Perez narrowly won the November general election with about 50.1% of the vote. She did decidedly better in Clark County, the most populous county in district territory. She received 55.1% of the vote there.
Kent won out over incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler in the August primary. Herrera Beutler caps off a six-term career in the U.S. House next month.
