Side-by-Side racing returned for a second year at the Clark County Fair and gave those in attendance some competitive racing thrills. The racers hit jumps, crashed into each other and even rolled over during their one-vs.-one racing event on Thursday, Aug. 10.

The event, put on by Addiction Powersports NW of Woodland, is a more recent addition to the fair’s grandstands lineup and has been successful. According to the Addiction Powersports NW Facebook page, organizers are already considering ways to improve racing for next year.

The racing included four classes, youth ages 6 to 9, youth ages 10-14, a sportsman class and a pro class. The two youth classes raced in a timed lap, while the sportsman and pro class races competed against each other in a bracket.

The fastest youth 6-9 driver was Silas Beatty. Savage Sage Parker was the fastest youth 10-14 driver. After his competitor rolled his side-by-side, Bryan Bossman earned the sportsman class title. In the pro class, Robert Bakuzcy earned his $1,000 payday and champion title in a hard-fought full five laps, where in dramatic fashion he overcame his competitor to take and hold onto the lead until the checkered flag waved.
