Shop burns in Battle Ground

Clark County Fire District 3 responded to a shop fire in the area of 23100 NE 182 Ave., Battle Ground Feb. 7. Shortly after 7 p.m. four engines, one tender and Fire District 3’s command staff responded to the blaze which was “fully involved” upon arrival, according to an announcement from the fire district.

Fire crews used two hydrants to supply hose lines and a high volume deck gun to put out most of the fire. An excavator was used to assist in the mop-up of the structurally damaged building. Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Clark County Public Works assisted.

During the response, several vehicles ran over hydrant supply lines, cutting one. That created a safety hazard for firefighters losing water pressure and a traffic hazard due to ice on the roadway.

The department lost close to $1,500, as hoses are not designed to be driven over.

“Fire District 3 requests drivers please use caution, turn around and find another route,” the announcement reads.

Fire District 3 serves roughly 40,000 people across 84 square miles, including Hockinson, Finn Hill, Brush Prairie, Battle Ground Lake, Heisson and Lucia Falls.
