The Ridgefield School District Board of Directors has selected Jake Bredstrand to fill its District 5 vacancy.

During a board meeting Tuesday, Oct. 10, the district approved appointing Bredstrand to the position. Bredstrand succeeds former District 5 member Zenia Bringhurst, who moved out of the district, a release from RSD stated. Bredstrand was the lone candidate to apply, the school district stated, and will run unopposed this year to retain his seat.

Bredstrand said being the son of two high school teachers gave him a passion for knowledge and the public school system, he said in the release. He noted he’s served on the city of Ridgefield’s Parks Board and Budget Advisory Committee, has volunteered with the Ridgefield Lions Club and is a board member of the Kennedy Farm Homeowners Association.

“My personal leadership experience and time serving in various board capacities has me well-prepared for this opportunity,” Bredstrand said in the release. “I especially hope to be a voice for the younger families who are settling into Ridgefield and sending their kids to school for the first time.”

Professionally, Bredstrand works as an account manager for Culture Amp, an employee experience tech company, the release stated. He was born and raised in Clark County and has lived in Ridgefield since 2019 with his wife and 1-year-old daughter.

“It is an honor to join the Ridgefield School District as a director, and I look forward to actively representing my constituents,” he said in the release.
