The cards are officially in the air at the Oak Tree Casino in Woodland.

Owners and managers of the Oak Tree Restaurant opened the doors of its much-anticipated card room on Sat., Dec. 17. The 15-table card room is an addition to the Oak Tree’s long-time location just off exit 21 on Interstate 5 in Woodland.

“We are very proud of the card room we’ve built,” says Chuck McCormick, general manager of the Oak Tree Casino. “We have something for everyone, including the classic Texas Hold ‘Em, Pai Gow, Easy Bacc (baccarat) and Ultimate Hold ‘Em.’ ”

The Oak Tree Restaurant is owned by OT Enterprises, LLC, which purchased the restaurant earlier this year. OT Enterprises has nine owners, many of whom live in the Woodland area.

“We have fulfilled our commitment to the community to create jobs and generate revenue for the City of Woodland,” says Terry A. Isom, CFO of Oak Tree Casino and OT Enterprises, LLC. “This opening marks a new era for The Oak Tree and the City of Woodland.’’

At the time of the opening, the Oak Tree Casino is located in the 15,000-square-foot conference room at the restaurant. The owners have plans to double the size of the casino later in 2012 in another building at the site.

Due to its location on Interstate 5 (exit 21), the company’s slogan is “There’s More Fun at Exit 21.”

In addition to the gaming tables, the Casino is also home to The River Lounge, which features a piano bar, live music on the weekends, and other special events. The River Lounge is a full-service bar and also serves espresso.

The Jade Garden restaurant will also open soon and that will serve a Chinese- and Vietnamese-inspired menu in the gaming area.

The card room has hired a staff of 120 people and City of Woodland officials estimate that it will generate more than $200,000 annually in tax revenues.

To facilitate the construction of the card room, earlier this year Woodland council members lifted a 1985 ban on gambling in the City.
