At Battle Ground Lake and elsewhere around Clark County, mushrooms are thriving this season after rainy stretches and cooler temperatures.The mushrooms particularly thrive in damp, dark conditions with lots of decaying plant matter. At Battle Ground Lake State Park, the two most unusual mushrooms seen on Tuesday, Oct. 17 were growing in an area with lava rock and a downed tree with decaying matter.
