Letter to the Editor: Ridgefield students, community depending on residents

Posted

Editor,

I am a mom of three kids under the age of 3 living in Ridgefield. I support both bond propositions 10 and 11 for Ridgefield schools.

As a former kindergarten teacher and elementary school principal, I have seen first hand how schools can not only transform individual student lives but also keep communities thriving. The experience you have in school often shapes the views you have on your hometown and your desire to engage in the community as you grow into adulthood.

My hope, as a Ridgefield parent, is that my children will go to schools that attract the best teachers. My hope is that my children go to schools that are reasonably sized so that they can be known uniquely. My hope is that my children will have every opportunity to engage in the extracurriculars that allow them to explore their passions. My hope is that, whether or not they live in Ridgefield as adults, they will always support the Ridgefield community, be strong alumni and speak highly of their hometown, no matter where life may take them.

Please vote yes for the Ridgefield schools bonds with me by April 23. My very young children are depending on you, and so is the future of this exceptional community.
