Letter to the Editor: Election reform initiative unnecessary

Posted

Editor,

Rob Anderson of Reform Clark County is gathering signatures for an initiative entitled The Restore Election Confidence Initiative for the November ballot. This initiative calls on the Clark County Elections Office to address issues that require an exorbitant amount of time, money and effort.

Sigh! There is nothing here to restore or reform! Despite the lack of evidence of election fraud on every level, Mr. Anderson and his cohorts are compelled to question a system that has worked effectively for several hundred years. Just because their candidate didn’t win doesn’t constitute taking out their frustrations on the elections office. Reform Clark County’s paranoia, resentment and insecurities are of their own doing and do not need to be taken out on an entity that works. The Clark County Elections Office has an excellent video — clark.gov.wa/elections — that explains in great detail every step of the election process and why it doesn’t need reform.

Reform Clark County is an extension of a MAGA movement that harasses anyone and everyone to pacify their own insecurities and extend their personal agendas. They don’t need signatures; they need therapy. I urge people to not sign this initiative. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
